My name is Lauren Vorwald and I currently work as a Behavioral Health Consultant within the Division of Child and Community Health at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City, Iowa. As a Certified Mental Health Peer Support Specialist I assist with the Iowa Peer & Family Peer Support Training Program through the Iowa Department of Human Services. My passion for wanting to be a Certified Personal Medicine Coach stems from my experience in the mental health system since the age of 14. For many years I looked to medical professionals to “fix” me. For a long time I didn’t believe I had the right – let alone the ability or responsibility – to empower myself and take control of my own health.
