My name is Raphaela Quinones Eleuterio. I'm originally from the Lower East Side of Manhattan, New York, born to Puerto Rican parents. With a scholarship from the New York Urban League, I attended Boston University, where I first majored in psychology then social work. My professional career has consisted of serving homeless families and individuals in Boston; opiate addicted adults and substance abuse using teens in Hawaii; families and individuals living with HIV/AIDS and migrant families in a school and hospital setting in Monterey County, California. Having been a former military spouse gave me the opportunity to practice social work all over the country.
I have lived with moderate to severe depressive disorder, anxiety disorder and PTSD. After raising my two incredible daughters, I have returned to full time work as a Bilingual Family Support Partner for the City of Alexandria Dept. of Community & Human Services. Helping families navigate the mental health system with their children, I am constantly reminding parents, especially single mothers, the value of self care and voice. I am hoping that coaching them discover their personal medicine will enable them to continue their recovery journey with less stress and more peace in their lives.
